Paul Bain is a self-confessed chocoholic and sugar-rush fiend.
The 44-year-old financial adviser admits that in his teens and twenties he consumed upwards of 4,000 calories a day, mostly via pies, chips and sweet treats.
Now, thankfully, he is more restrained in his eating habits.
But rather than avoid chocolate, he has devised a plan that allows him to carry on enjoying his favourite food.
“I try not to eat it Monday to Thursday, but Friday is my treat night. I buy chocolate for me and the kids and a bottle of wine for my wife. There’s loads of chocolate for me and a tiny bit for the children,” he adds with a cheeky smile.
“Seriously, though, I can sit and eat a whole bar by myself. My dad is the same.”
Paul recognises he needs to be more discerning in what he eats, however.
Which is why he’s currently chopping vegetables under the watchful eye of Newcastle College hospitality lecturer Eddie Saint.
